Hi Malcolm,

Thanks for taking the time out to read my post. A couple of questions/comments for you (assuming you come back to read the comments here)...

<strong>1) </strong>Ron Paul is a <strong>non-interventionist</strong>, not an isolationist. The term "isolationist" was assigned to him by old media (old media is a definition I use to describe mainstream media = heavily centralized big business media). I posted a 1 page reference for folks to examine that <a href="http://gilliganscorner.files.wordpress.com/2007/12/media-moguls-1200x849.thumbnail.jpg" rel="nofollow">here</a>. Old Media use that term as a scare tactic to galvanize moderate voters into not voting for Paul. Ron Paul explained MANY times when the media drones asked him about that position. He repeatedly says, <em>"I want to talk with nations, trade with nations, but entangling alliances with none."</em> Entangling alliances (i.e. US foreign policy) and the contribution of billions of dollars across the globe to install or prop-up US favoured governments does nothing but fan the flames of discontent and violence in these countries. You can watch McCain (heavily supported by Viacom as he altered rules to allow Viacom to buy CBS, after Viacom broke US rules controlling media ownership) and Paul tussle here where Paul explains what non-interventionism vs. isolationism is:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Fv4i0LXI_78

The US is going broke because of this. History teaches us that every empire that tries to spread its power and influence and MAINTAIN that power and influence always, without exception, leads to the collapse of the empire. Alexander the Great, Rome, the Mongols, the Ottoman empire, the British empire - all collapsed. The US is building an embassy in Iraq the size of the Vatican. They currently run more than 700 military bases across the world.

Will the US government raise taxes to pay for all of this foreign meddling and/or outright war? No. The officials would be voted out of office if they said to the American people, "We need to raise your taxes by 15,000 dollars a year to accomplish our goals." How do they do it then? Answer: the Inflation Tax and borrowing against Americans not even born yet. To give you a small example of that, Hydro companies in Ontario currently apply an extra charge its Customers about 10 dollars every billing cycle to "retire the debt from the old Ontario Hydro corporation". This is a bailout that all Customers must pay - even new immigrants that had nothing to do with Ontario Hydro! I will writing a blog explaining how the Inflation Tax works in the near future, so I hope you check back.

<strong>2) </strong>Paul doesn't support guns per se. However, the right to bear arms is defined in the Constitution. Since Paul is a Constitutionalist, he supports that amendment, until it is written out. At the time of writing the Constitution, the founding fathers of the US wanted to guarantee a mechanism that would allow the common people to rise up and protect their country from their own government, should the need arise.

Personally, I have mixed feelings about bearing arms. On one hand, I don't see most people able to handle the responsibility of owning and using a gun safely and with all the restraint they can muster, i.e. a simple argument can turn deadly, what people do under the influence of alcohol, etc). On the other hand, I read about all of these mass shootings here in Canada and the US, and wonder if the death tolls would have been so high if their were others in the area that had a weapon that could have brought down the shooter(s) before they killed so many. Or I wonder if the killers would have so eager to kill people not knowing who would be armed and who would not be - might be one hell of a deterrent. I can tell you this. If I was in a mall and someone started shooting, I would have zero moral and ethical dilemmas with respect to taking that person down to protect my family instead of waiting for the police to arrive, find the shooter, assess the situation, and finally take him down - after my family was killed. Assuming I survived, I would never be able to reconcile that with myself.

Malcolm, we share a lot in common with Americans. I would rather be Canadian myself. However, that is likely to erode in the future with the introduction of the NAU. Don't think that that won't happen. The process of redefining North American borders, surreptitiously altering the underlying plumbing that makes us all sovereign nations, and the introduction of a common currency, unofficially called the "Amero" is already underway. A Ron Paul Administration is the most likely way that we would all preserve our sovereignty.

It was hard for me to accept all of this, Malcolm, but the truth is out there if you are willing to research and look beyond what Old Media allows you to see and hear about the world.

An incredible and well written article. Brought up even more points than I realized were there!

Even from the first major debate on Fox, everything has been done to suppress Paul. It makes you wonder- who is really in control, and what is REALLY going on behind the scenes?

Ron Paul has some interesting ideas, none of which address most social concerns in any meaningful way. He's an isolationist, and still has that age old american Penchant for guns. Wunnerful. Canada isn't likely to see Mr Paul as much more than another example of why we don't want to be Americans.

Good work! You know, I particularly appreciated your dismissal of the complaints about the supporters of Ron Paul being "only" on the internet... right you are, as it seems to be a medium which cannot be controlled by its "owners". Thinking about this, the internet allows something that traditional media does not: a dialogue -- an engagement of minds -- as we are now having. I can now, thanks to the internet, directly and without any "mediation" respond to another's statement. Impossible to do with either TV or newspaper -- which are effectively deaf -- and they can only treat you as passive, as receptive of only "their" view of an issue. Even the little response permitted, as with the "Letters to the Editor" are selected in the light of the editorial ideology. With TV and newspapers, and to a great measure the radio, nothing more can be sustained other than a monologue, with the reader or auditor a passive recipient. Great for solipsistic dictators! -- and all dictators are solipsists. In sum, an open dialogue is a necessary condition for freedom, a closed monologues a necessary condition for dictatorship. Thanks for your insight!

Very Enlightening. Thanks for setting things straight. What a different world we would have if there were more independent critical thinkers like you encouraging the independent critical thinking process. Unfortunately, its too easy for the masses to accept the reporting of the "old media" with not a clue to their divisive underhanded purposes. Thanks.
